The federal leader of the Palmer United Party Mr Clive Palmer has announced the Palmer United Party’s first federal election candidate for Victoria.
Mr Palmer said former real estate agent and television fishing host Jason Kennedy has been endorsed for the seat of La Trobe in Melbourne’s outer south east at the September 14 federal election.
Mr Kennedy spent eight years in the local area working for two prominent real estate agencies and then established his own fishing television show (Fishin’ Trip) which first went to air on Melbourne television in 2004.
The husband and father of one was also successful with his local football club, the Beaconsfield Eagles.
“I am standing for La Trobe because I’ve got a strong commitment to the area, not only do I live in the electorate I also volunteer my time to the local community,” he said.
“During my life I have been fortunate enough to be able to follow my passions. Politics is a passion of mine and I have realized that the Palmer United Party’s vision for Australia is a vision that I want to be a part of.
“In the past I have volunteered for the Liberal Party over three federal elections and I have witnessed first-hand both major parties neglect of La Trobe.”
Mr Kennedy said he, along with the Palmer United Party, wants to ensure Australians young and old are no longer neglected and ignored.
The Palmer United Party plans to field candidates in all 150 House of Representative seats at the September election as well as Senate teams in all states and territories.
