Federal Member for Fairfax

Media release

The federal leader of the Palmer United Party and Member for Fairfax, Clive Palmer, has criticised the Executive of the LNP for nominating Jeff Seeney to chair the Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) at a time when he faces serious legal issues.

Mr Palmer said that Mr Seeney had accused him of seeking preferential treatment for his coal and mining projects in 2012 and had sent documents to the Crime and Misconduct Commission.

“I lodged documents disproving Mr Seeney’s claims and it is highly inappropriate to nominate a party member who has been caught out making false allegations to the state’s corruption watchdog,” he said.

“I have lodged evidence showing Mr Seeney’s inconsistent and false claims.

“The decision by the LNP to endorse Mr Seeney is a clear reflection of the party’s arrogance and inability to learn from previous leadership mistakes.

“The LNP hasn’t learned from previous mistakes, Campbell Newman was rejected by Queenslanders for a reason, surely being rejected once is enough.”
